Delete Users with No Roles
I am working on a plugin for Wordpress that will allow me to delete the users that get created by spammers and such. You can tell they are spam accounts because they have no roles associated with them. If they were created the proper way they would have a role associated with their account. So I will play with the creation of a plugin to delete those users.
Wordpress 2.9.1
So I have just updated this site to version 2.9.1, and it is working quite well. I have just noticed the coolest thing.. I think it was implemented in Wordpress 2.9, but either way, if you put a url in your post is like a link for a video from Flickr or something. Just putting this url in your post, with nothing else special, will embed the video straight in the post.

Even though the URL is for the page that the image or in this case video is on, Wordpress is smart enough to embed the video for us right into wordpress. We could put the embed code around the URL and it will do the same thing, but with the embed tag in wordpress we can make the video/picture a particular size. so like this is an embed width=200
Worm running around attacking Wordpress Sites Everywhere
So I was doing some reading today and noticed that there is a worm out attacking wordpress sites. It appears that Version 2.8.4 is not vulnerable, so was the version before but I would go around and check your Wordpress if you are using wordpress and make sure that you are atleast 2.8.3 but I think 2.8.4 would be even better. And check your friends sites too make sure they have upgraded…

Hosting provider
I have now entered into the world of being a hosting provider. I have been hosting several sites for a while, but just recently decided that I should start doing my own hosting. So I am still working out some of the kinks, and will start adding some new pages here in the next few days talking about my hosting opportunities, and how I can serve the people who want me to host their site for them. But I just wanted to put this note out there letting people know that I now can provide hosting.
openIDs
I was over using Plaxo this morning, I got an email about someone joinging Plaxo or something like that.
Any way, while I was there I noticed that Plaxo now accepted openIDs. Which got me thinking that I have always wanted to have my own openID server. Well, while I was looking how to setup my own openID server, I noticed that google was now an openID site, so when I signup to sites that use openID, I can use google as the openID site. So I decided to add an openid login to my sites, so I added an openID plugin. So if you need to login to this site, you can now do so using openID.
Wordpress & PhpGedView
I am slowly working on this module to allow wordpress and phpgedview, which is the genealogy software that I use on my sites, to be linked together. I met this guy online who has been working with me on the process. The plugin is going to be called WPPGV, but we keep having problems with the code because both Wordpress and PhpGedview have a php method that is named the same. The biggest problem that I see is that the one is wordpress is deprecated, so I am tring to determine how to turn off that procedure that is deprecated. Any one have any ideas.
I know that I could go in a modify the code, but I don’t want to do that. i mean, how could I do it without modifying the Wordpress code? Any ideas?
Wordpress 2.7 Beta 3
I upgrade this site to be wordpress 2.7 beta 3 today, let me know if you notice any problems or anything that doesn’t seem to work with the site.
SQL Developer
For work I connect to all sorts of Oracle Databases, so we have been using a tool called SQL Developer, it is a java based app, released by Oracle. I had to do this class the other day, to share tips and tricks that I have found using SQL Developer with my co-workers. It was an entertaining class, but one thing that I noticed while they were asking questions, was that I didn’t have the latest version of the software. SO I got the new version and when to start using it and noticed that I was missing all my connections, so I did a little google search, and found this site, and this article, that helped, so I thought I would post it as a place I found useful information
Don’s Play area
This is just the place where I will play with plugins and other sorts of code so I don’t break anything else. I am going to start working on the integration of Wordpress and Pggview. Hopefully we will get this plugin working and it will allow us to integrate our site and our genealogy site. I’ll keep you posted.
